Retrospective dedicated to Giorgio Princivalle

From October 30th, thirty years after his death, the Department of Culture and Entertainment of the Municipality of Cagliari, together with the Princivalle family, dedicates an important retrospective to Giorgio Princivalle, entitled Giorgio Princivalle. The gloomy side of things.
The Municipal Art Gallery will host forty works of one of the most original painters of the late 20th century in Sardinia.
Divided according to his most loved themes such as horses, beaches, portraits of women, the title of the exhibition comes from a quote by the art critic Salvatore Antonio Demuro about Princivalle's works.
The artist recovers some objects from his childhood (the rocking horse, dolls' heads etc) and uses them as archetype but covering them with that melancholy light, typical of a mature point of view. That melancholia is not eclipsed by sadness but permeated with an endless tenderness that warms the atmosphere and brings everything out of time.
