from May 01, 2021 to May 01, 2021

On 1 May 2021, Cagliari and the whole of Sardinia celebrate the 365th fulfillment of the solemn vow to Saint Efisio.

For more than 300 years, at the beginning of May, the whole of Sardinia accompany their patron in this traditional, unique procession retracing the steps of Saint Efisio from the place of his captivity and martyrdom in Nora to the Church of Stampace where his relics still remain.

This year, the procession will be different due to Covid-19: a historic change of format (similar to the 2020 edition), in part to discourage a large crowd from gathering during a pandemic shutdown. All the religious functions will be held behind closed doors.

On Saturday, 1 May 2021, an open-air military vehicle will carry the simulacrum of Saint Efisio to Nora and then back to Cagliari.
All phases of the fulfillment of the solemn vow will take place without public participation. The church of Saint Efisio will remain open for private prayers until Tuesday, 25th May.

All stages of the procession, including the transport of the simulacrum, will be broadcast on our Facebook page Festa di Sant'Efisio.
