Tree-lined streets in Cagliari
In Cagliari, as many others European cities, from the late 1800s onwards, new tree-lined streets have changed the shape of the urban space. The Sardinian capital has expanded and grown in different directions and important urban functions have been planned outside the ancient walls.
In order to bring citizens’ attention to the past, present and future of Cagliari's tree-lined streets, thought as vegetable architectures, so as an essential resource for the urban quality, the Municipal Art Centre Il Ghetto hosts Vegetal Architectures, tree-lined streets in Cagliari, an exhibition curated by architect Marco Cadinu together with the agronomist Tiziana Sassu.
The exhibition is a journey to rediscover tree-lined avenues, which have become part of our historical heritage and, from the early nineteenth century onwards, important indicators to evaluate urban environmental quality.
