Sound waves. Sea Music
Sound exhibition about travels through the seas of Sardinia.
Sound waves. Sea Music is a sound exhibition about travels through the sea of Sardinia born from a project by Andrea Palombini and Federico Ortica that will lead the public in a visual / sound / musical journey. The idea was developped in 2019 from the project of a journey through music and the sea, an immersion into sounds and waves, a contamination between images and sound expressions, a search for musical tracks captured with microphones and reworked with a mixer.
The public will see eight photographic images taken aboard a 40-foot sailing boat, during a crossing between Cagliari and La Maddalena. Each photo is combined with a QR code that allows visitors to listen to the sound music tracks recorded on the boat with the various musicians who, during the navigation, got on board improvising and creating interactions between music and the sound of the sea.
Inside the exhibition there is a sound sculpture made up of harmonic steel plates which, thanks to electric exciters, diffuses the sounds of navigation: the idea is to restore the material relationship with the boat through a physical and living element.
For Andrea Palombini and Federico Ortica, sailing means crossing the waves and looking beyond the horizon, but also being present in the moment with your hands on solid and vibrant objects in consonance with the sea.
In order to enjoy this immersive sound experience, it is recommended to use the earphones of your smartphone .
