Landscape and identity. Stories of places, women and men

This event is related to the sections: Exhibitions

The artists of the Sardinian Civic Collection and the reporter of Magnum Agency in Sardinia.

"Landscape and identity. Stories of places, women and men "is the title that will be articulated in two exhibitions: the first, that will inaugurate on Friday 30th of June, presents the theme through the works of the Artists of the Sardinian Civic Collection.

The exposition is made up by a careful selection of works from the main corpus of the permanent collection, which spans along the 20th century remanding to an idea and a self-representation of the island by its artists. The exhibition goes back in time, starting with Maria Lai Come Daphne (1999), for the first time exhibited to the public in the museum atrium, so that it can be available for everyone. Landscape and Identity are thus depicted and deepened in the roots of their representation through the works of Foiso Fois, Hoder Claro Grassi, Aligi Sassu, Ubaldo Badas, Giuseppe Biasi, Pietro Antonio Manca, Stanis Dessy, Melkiorre Melis, Costantino Nivola and Pinuccio Sciola, some of the greatest masters of art in Sardinia.

From July the exhibition will be enriched by the combination between our artists and the great reporter of Magnum Agency, present in the exposition with their pictures of Sardinia, taken in the 1950s and 1960s. Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Seymour, Werner Bischof, Leonard Freed, Ferdinand Scianna, who immortalized the island in delicate transition from a traditional culture to the so-called "modernity".

Two exhibitions to create a single landscape.
