The exhibitions Arte Povera: From the Olnick Spanu Collection and Marco Anelli: Building Magazzino define the "making of" of the great cultural project known as "Magazzino Italian Art Foundation", which gave birth to an extraordinary museum reality in the USA, dedicated to Italian art from the post-war period to the present, above all poor art, which represents a disruptive moment of artistic creativity, one of the main Italian artistic movements of the second half of the twentieth century. The main architects of the project, and founders of Magazzino Italian Art, are the New Yorker Nancy Olnick and the Sardinian Giorgio Spanu, collectors of contemporary art for years. In addition to the works in the collection, in an exhaustive relationship between content and container, Marco Anelli’s report records all the different phases in the creation of Magazzino Italian Art, an intense sequence of shots which reveals the author's extraordinary communication skills.

Arte povera: from the Olnick Spanu Collection will allow the viewer to discover a selection of 15 works from the Olnick Spanu collection by 12 artists associated with the Arte Povera group, exhibited for the first time in the Palazzo di Città: will be presented works by authors as Alighiero Boetti, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Michelangelo Pistoletto, just to mention the best known. Last but not least, the goal is to bring the spirit breathed every day in “Magazzino” in the Sardinian capital.

Marco Anelli: Building Magazzino, consisted in a selection of 27 photographs, will be presented for the first time in Italy. The photographs on display are taken from a large work published entirely in the first editorial project of Magazzino Italian Art. The selection of large format works will include portraits of the workers who participated in the construction of Magazzino Italian Art and a series of photographs depicting the different phases of the building construction.
