36th International European Jazz Expo

This event is related to the sections: Concerts, Cultural events and Shows, Musical seasons, Theatre

Cagliari October 10th - December 4th, 2018

A program that re-proposes the tired and tested formula thanks to which the European Jazz Expo has established itself in the international context, with the difference that this rich playbill, previously concentrated in three days, is now being developed in two months. A choice dictated by logistical reasons, which will certainly meet the needs of the public who can enjoy events with great artists in contexts sometimes unique and unrepeatable as the setting of the Church of San Sepolcro in Cagliari

Then a wide range of appointments among which will stand out several "focus" already tested in the past: the "Portrait of an artist" entirely dedicated to Franco D'Andrea, who will inaugurate the festival on October 10th and 11th at Jazzino Jazz Club with two of its main productions. The great masters of international jazz, such as Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, Enrico Rava, Omar Sosa; "Què viva jazz club", the showcase dedicated to great club music, which this year deploys musicians like Ray Gelato, Paolo Jannacci, Andrea Mingardi at the head of their respective bands; extraordinary new talents like Carlot-ta, Yilian Canizares, Daniela Pes; an amazing international emerging formation such us the one of the Forq; great events to the edge of jazz with the concerts of Avion Travel, Don Mescall and "Lantias" by Elena Ledda; the new original productions such as "Rizoma" by Gianrico Manca, "S'ArdiCity" by Malasorti and Sardica and Paolo Nonnis Big Band together with Vassil Petrov; the Concert Lessons of the great Giovanni Bietti, organized together with the association Malik and the Municipal School of Music of Cagliari; the Easy Jazz project, shared with the Civic School of San Sperate which includes an orchestral didactic production directed by the master Paolo Carrus and "The Jazz with the eyes of a child", a workshop for children led by the music therapist Francesca Romana Motzo with the attendance of the multi-instrumentalist Andrea Ruggeri. Last but not least, great jazz through the images of the photographer Daniela Zedda who will enjoy the sound commentary by the pianist Irma Toudjan. In addition to the many focuses, to animate the festival program there will be also a series of great artists like Bebo and Massimo Ferra, Javier Girotto, Daniele Tittarelli, Gavino Murgia, Marcello Peghin and many others. (As an attachment the complete program of the festival).
